During the first WhatsApp Business Summit that took place in Brazil, the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg announced that the messaging app will now allow users to search for different businesses. The change will affect the actual user interface of WhatsApp and people will be able to look for businesses by typing the name or category.
The search function in the app will come with a small map where users will be able to look up any businesses located nearby. The app provides a range of filters that will allow you to narrow down the search and get the most accurate results if you don’t know a specific business name. You will also be able to see verified business accounts.
The decision to offer such features will definitely increase engagement in WhatsApp when it comes to business. The number of WhatsApp users continues to increase, especially in the United States, so the messaging service can become a valuable tool.
There is already a tendency for people to share content in more private groups of messaging services as opposed to everyone seeing it on their social media. It means that more people are ready to engage with business representatives in messaging apps as opposed to social media accounts.
Another update to mention is that Meta is expanding their range of WhatsApp payments. The company stated that “the seamless checkout experience will be a game-changer for people and businesses looking to buy and sell on WhatsApp.”
