It seems that Final Fantasy VII Remake developers haven’t come up with the best way to transfer save data from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5. The process is inconvenient, to say the least.
Those who want to switch to playing the game on PS5 will get a number of improvements, and it’s possible to decide whether you want enhanced resolution or higher framerate. The update is free and called Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The developer of the game, Square Enix, also offered a data transference process update to switch from PS4 to PS5. The problem with the process is that you have to keep all 86 GB of the game on the hard drive until the transfer process is complete and you have the Intergrade version in place. It is still not completely clear how much of your PS5 storage space will be occupied.
Even the PS Plus members cannot have cloud backups, so the entire process is not as user-friendly as one would hope. It seems that PS5 is not great with save data transfers in general, which is unfortunate. Hopefully, they will find a better solution shortly.
